  • In order to gather just 1 pound of honey, it takes 556 worker bees.
  • Bees fly more than once around the world to gather a pound of honey.
  • Bees are intelligent: Bees are known to take the fastest, most efficient route when traveling from flower to flower rather than flying sporadically about. 
  •  A bumblebee which was previously abundant in southern Ontario is now said to be nearly extinct and is now listed as an endangered species. This bumble bee goes by the name "The Rusty-Patch Bumble Bee".
  • Six additional bee species have recently declined and scientists have since advised the federal Ministry of Environment to take the necessary actions in order to protect them.
  • 1/3 of the crops eaten by humans is made possible thanks to the honey bee.
  • Without honey bees, we wouldn't have crops such as avocados, raspberries, mangoes, strawberries, coffee and SO much more.
  • A single colony containing approximately 50,000 bees makes an average of 14kg of honey and pollinates of 4000 square meters of fruit frees.
  • Colony failures are due to multiple factors including starvation, weak honey bee queens, pesticides, viruses, and parasites.
